Tina Shankar, MS, LMHC

Tina Shankar is a mental health counselor working with individuals who struggle to cope with generalized and social anxiety, depression, family and relationship issues, caregiver issues, and South Asian cultural issues. She has also received training in the Intensive Family Support Services Department of a mental health agency and in private practice settings. Tina also counsels individuals with eating disorders, weight management issues, career/academic goal setting, and time management issues. Her therapeutic approach is warm, non-judgmental, and caring. She applies individualized counseling techniques in order to provide the best level of care that is appropriate for each person. This can include solution-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Tina holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling with a concentration in Mental Health from Nova Southeastern University, and has also worked as a research assistant at Columbia University's New York State Psychiatric Institute. Tina's first language is English, and she can also speak Hindi and understand some Malayalam.
